Yeast-Free Bread Costs Too Much – So Make Your Own
If you have recently tried to follow a yeast-free diet, you have probably realized that a lot of yeast-free bread’s are expensive. So, what cheaper alternatives are there?
Well, the best advice I can give you is to bake your own bread using individual ingredients. Not only will this cost less, but it will also give you total control over what ingredients go into your bread. You will also be able to eat the bread fresh while it is still warm from being baked.
Take a look at this great yeast free bread recipe.
You Will Need:
* Lard or olive oil, for greasing
* 1 level tsp salt
* 250g/9oz plain flour
* 8fl oz/225ml buttermilk or live yoghurt
* 2 tsp soft brown sugar
* 1 level tsp bicarbonate soda
Directions:
1. Pre-heat your oven to 445F/230C. Use the lard or oil to grease a baking sheet.
2. Sift the flour, salt, and bicarbonate of soda into the mixing bowl, then add in the sugar.
3. Mix the buttermilk or yoghurt in with a wooden spoon. Then kneed it into a dough with your hands, until it’s firm and soft. If it feels too sticky or wet, just add more flour into the mix.
4. Gently kneed the dough in the bowl for about thirty seconds, until it becomes smooth, then mould it into a ball shape, making it as deep as you can. Place onto the greased baking sheet, then cut a deep X into the top with a knife. This allows the bread to expand when the soda starts to work.
5. Put into the oven and bake for about 12 minutes, then bring the heat of the oven down to 200C/400F and cook for another 15-20 minutes. Once ready, the base of the bread should sound hollow if you tap it.
6. Leave to cool for about 15 minutes before you serve it.
There are still many delicious, tasty foods that a person can eat once you have cut out yeast. Eating a yeast free diet is actually a lot easier than you might think. For FREE information about living on a yeast free diet, visit Yeast Free Diets
